The Karlovy Vary Textile Center has completed its first two months of operation. And we are truly delighted by the public’s interest. Since the beginning of June, the center in Stará Role has collected more than 6.7 metric tons of donated textiles. In July alone, the total exceeded 3 metric tons.
Over the first two months, we distributed nearly 5 metric tons of material aid to social organizations. Clothing that is not suitable for direct aid is then put to further use through certified partners.
Clothing Helps Directly in the Region
One of the main goals of the Karlovy Vary Textile Center is to ensure that as much high-quality donated clothing as possible is used directly in the Karlovy Vary Region.
That is why, from the very beginning, we have relied on cooperation with organizations that work every day with people in need. Thanks to them, we know where to direct the material aid and what is truly needed in the region.
In the first two months, we prepared emergency packages in cooperation with the organizations Rubikon, Společnost pro ranou péči, Pomoc v nouzi o.p.s., Betlém Shelter, Valika, the Salvation Army in Karlovy Vary, the Salvation Army in Chodov, the Sokolov Foster Care Center, OSPOD Karlovy Vary, Romodrom o.p.s. Karlovy Vary, PENTA – Sokolov Hospital, and the NRZP Counseling Center in Karlovy Vary.
Thanks to this network of partners, donated clothing reaches directly the people and families who can truly benefit from it in their specific situations.
We’re Expanding Our Collection Network Throughout the Region
The first two months weren’t just about receiving and sorting donations. At the same time, we began building a regional textile collection system designed to gradually connect municipalities, the public, and social services across the Karlovy Vary Region.
We’re helping municipalities with separate textile collection and handling both pickup and further processing. In July, we began regular pickup from the first newly installed textile containers.
Currently, we’re collecting textiles from: Lomnice, Cheb, Chodov, Nová Role, Otovice, Lázně Kynžvart, Aš, and Toužim.
And we will continue to expand our network.
We want to make it as easy as possible for people in the Karlovy Vary Region to donate clothing they no longer use. At the same time, we want as much high-quality textile as possible to be returned to the region as tangible aid.
The first two months of operation have shown us that combining social assistance with circular textile management has great potential in the Karlovy Vary Region.
We’d like to thank everyone who is helping us build the Karlovy Vary Textile Center—especially all the donors, partner organizations, cities, towns, and companies that are part of this project. 💚♻️
