Thanks to the Jesus’ Grandchildren project (Czech Radio Foundation), we were able to deliver our clothing packages to seniors all over the Czech Republic. At the Clothing Bank we sorted the clothes according to size and current needs (summer and winter seasonal packages). We then created individually prepared crisis packages that went directly to the homes of seniors through the Mailroom and our cooperating non-profit organizations.
What did the donation make possible?
- Distribution of the packages – funds were used to arrange for transportation through Zásilkovna and private carriers to ensure the aid arrived quickly and safely.
- Packaging materials – part of the donation covered the cost of plastic envelopes, labels and other materials needed for safe delivery.
The Added Value of Quality Old Age
Quality old age is not only based on health, but also on a sense of dignity, care and belonging. Thanks to these packages, we brought not only material help to the gifted seniors, but also confirmation that someone is thinking of them. Clothing not only warms the body, but also the soul – it gives a feeling of personal care and concern. Support through Santa’s Grandchildren creates a strong emotional bond between donors and recipients and reinforces a social refinement to respect the elderly.
The Jesus Grandchildren Project – why they deserve admiration
Ježíšek’s Grandchildren is a project of the Czech Radio Foundation, which for the eighth year has been fulfilling the wishes of lonely seniors – both material and experiential – and creating real friendships between donors and seniors facebook.com+14nadacnifond.rozhlas.cz+14portal.rozhlas.cz+14.
Over the course of the project, more than 100 000 wishes have been granted, and seniors have received not only gifts but also support that many have long lacked.
In addition to gifts, food aid, social counselling and other services are reaching the most socially vulnerable households, including those outside standard facilities, thanks to partnerships with organisations such as the Stories Foundation.
Supporting carers is also an important benefit – the project restores the prestige of the caring professions, offers professional development and raises the profile of the needs of older people.
The project extends the boundaries of care – not only at donation time, but also throughout the year, and in this way makes a real contribution to the quality of old age.
Our heartfelt thanks to the Czech Radio Foundation and the Grandchildren of Jesus for their persistent, empathetic and organized work. Thanks to them, even the most needy can experience a sense of belonging and dignity that they are not afforded anywhere else.
