Save the T-Shirt: Thinking Differently About Clothing

14. 6. 2026

This week, we welcomed 8th-grade students from the Hovorčovice Elementary and Preschool to the Clothing Bank as part of the “Save a T-Shirt” educational program. The program aims to show children what goes on behind the scenes of clothing production, the impact fast fashion has on the environment and people’s lives, and why it makes sense to give clothes a second chance.

During the visit, the students toured the Clothing Bank, learned more about the sorting and distribution of donated clothing, and also visited our charity shops in Prague-Holešovice and Hovorčovice. It was this combination of theory and practice that helped the children better understand how each of us can contribute to more responsible consumption.

However, what made us happiest was the feedback from the school. The teachers continued exploring the topic with the children even after returning to school. Together, they discussed the origins of clothing, watched documentary clips about textile production conditions, and explored the global issue of textile waste.

We are very pleased that the visit also inspired the school to consider organizing a school clothing drive. It is precisely these kinds of activities that help children understand that even seemingly small steps can have a big impact.

We would like to thank Hovorčovice Elementary and Preschool, teacher Miriam Kupková, and all the students for their visit, active participation, and interest in the topic of sustainability. We look forward to future meetings together.
