Join the autumn clothing collection for the Clothing Bank

25. 9. 2024

September 25, 2024, Prague – Oděvní banka, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing clothing to people in need, invites the general public to participate in its fall clothing drive. The project, which combines social aid with sustainability, distributes more than 40 tons of clothing across the Czech Republic each year, helping thousands of families in crisis situations.

The clothing bank operates on the principles of circular economy and solidarity. It accepts clothing from donors, carefully sorts it and then creates crisis clothing packages that are distributed to those most in need through food banks and local non-profit organizations. “Every piece of clothing donated can mean a warm winter outfit for a family in need,” says Dana Pavlouskova, founder of the Clothing Bank.
The fall clothing drive is a key opportunity to expand the Clothing Bank’s inventory and allow for more distributions. “We would like to increase the volume of clothing we receive so that we can help even more people,” Pavlouskova emphasizes.

The project was created as an extension of the activities of the Single Mothers Club, which focuses on helping single parents. Today, the Clothing Bank works with most food banks and more than two hundred non-profit organizations to help provide clothing distribution across all regions of the country. The activities of the Clothing Bank have also been supported by the wife of the President, Mrs. Eva Pavlova, as part of the We Are In This Together campaign, as well as by the Office of the Government, under whose auspices the various ministerial departments regularly participate in employee clothing drives.

In addition, the autumn campaign will be supported by well-known personalities who have become ambassadors of the project. These include actress Ivana Jirešová, stylist Petra Kasalová, fashion expert Kamila Vodochodská, bio blogger Lucie van Koten and actress and presenter Kateřina Pechová. Their involvement will help spread awareness of this important initiative and motivate the public to participate in the collection. “Collecting items for the Clothing Bank is an opportunity to help everyone. Clothes we don’t wear can serve the needy well and sorting out our wardrobe is meaningful in itself,” explains the reason for her involvement, popular actress Ivana Jirešová.

Donors can easily contribute by sending a free package of clothes through the Zasilkovna. Simply report the code 98716876 at the delivery point, which is valid for standard shipments up to 5 kg. The code can be used repeatedly and there is no need to use any app – the delivery point operator prints a label and sticks it on the package. Oversized parcels or delivery via another carrier is paid for by the donor.
