October was a month that could be described as one of the busiest times of the year for our Clothing Bank. The results of our work speak for themselves. We managed to distribute an incredible 6,786 kilograms of material aid to those who need it most. This means that our aid reached almost 2,000 individuals and families, demonstrating once again the power of mutual support and solidarity.
The largest part of our October aid went to cooperating food banks across the Czech Republic, which then passed on the packages to other organizations in their regions. Thanks to this cooperation, our aid reaches people across the country and supports them in their time of greatest need.
The huge amount of material we were able to process was obtained thanks to the significant involvement of companies in organising employee collections. In October, we received shipments from a number of companies and institutions: Drahelčice Municipality, Toray Textiles Central Europe, Messer Technogas, Nová Trojka, Letňany Municipality, Amundi, School of the Ministry of Interior, Piere Fabre, Saint Gobain, Vodafone, Phoenix, Moneta, Mili Kraus, CBRE, Prague Airport, Copy General and Allianz. Each of these collections was important to us and helped to keep our sorting packing plant running at full speed.
The selfless help of volunteers was also an unforgettable part of October. 18 volunteers from companies such as Česká spořitelna, Amazon, CBRE, NN and Amundi took part in the sorting of clothes. These people decided to donate their time and energy, and helped us keep up the pace even on the most challenging days. Their enthusiasm and dedication are indispensable to us and we greatly appreciate every bit of their help.
Another record number was the number of parcels sent via our free parcel code. In October, we received an impressive 1,183, which resulted in our warehouse filling up literally to the ceiling. This massive outpouring of help is not only a challenge for us, but also proof that we can rely on the support of the general public. There is an ongoing appeal for donors to remember, when sorting through their wardrobes, to look especially for men’s and boys’ clothing, of which we have had a long-standing shortage. Your donations are crucial and every item of clothing makes a big difference to us and those we help.
However, it is important to note that even though donors send these packages free of charge, the Clothing Bank bears the cost of shipping. In October, we paid 64,885 crowns for this logistics. These expenses are an essential part of our operations and we can only manage them thanks to the support of people like you. If you would like to help us not only by sending clothes but also financially, it would make it very easy for us to cover these expenses and allow us to continue our work.
Finally, we would like to thank everyone who supported us in October – whether they contributed clothing, financially or gave their time as a volunteer. Your support, whatever it may be, allows us to continue to help and spread the help where it is needed most. A big thank you also to JTI for their financial support that helps us maintain our operations.
October was a busy month, but full of moments that remind us why our work is important. Thank you for being a part of it!
